Who we are
BeyoundWaves is an internet radio platform operated in Ghana. We provide station hosting, live broadcasting, AutoDJ, programme support, advertising and help services. This policy covers all of them.
Information we handle
- Account information: your display name, email address and a hashed password. Your password is never stored in readable form.
- Content you publish: audio, playlists, schedules, artwork, station pages and recordings you upload or publish.
- Listening and engagement data: which stations and programmes are opened, listener counts and anonymous engagement totals. This is used to run the service and to attribute advertising and support revenue.
- Help conversations: messages you send through the help chat, and the email address you choose to leave there, so the team can read and answer your enquiry.
- Payment records: payments run through Paystack. Card details go to Paystack and never reach BeyoundWaves. We receive the payment reference, status and amount, and we keep our own billing, support and payout records in US dollars.
- Technical data: your IP address in server logs, and the session cookie that keeps you signed in.
Why we use it
- to provide the service you signed up for;
- to keep it secure: sign-in, account recovery, station isolation and abuse prevention;
- to handle billing, programme support and payouts;
- to answer your help enquiries;
- to meet legal and accounting obligations.
Legal bases
We handle information on the basis of the contract you have with us (running your account and station), our legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention and improving the service), your consent (where you choose to leave an email in a help conversation), and legal obligations (accounting and record keeping).
Cookies
The site uses an essential session cookie to keep you signed in. That is all. BeyoundWaves does not set third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
The help assistant
The help bubble is answered first by an automated assistant. Your conversation is stored so a member of the team can read it and reply if the assistant could not help. If you leave your email address, the reply is also sent there once email delivery is configured. You can ask us to delete a help conversation at any time.
Who we share it with
- Paystack: processes card payments and payouts.
- Our hosting provider: the servers the platform runs on.
- Authorities: where the law requires disclosure.
We never sell your personal data, and we do not share it for anyone else's advertising.
Where your data lives
BeyoundWaves is operated from Ghana and its servers are currently hosted in the European Union (Germany). When information moves between Ghana and the EU it travels over encrypted connections and is handled under this policy.
How long we keep it
- Account information is kept while your account is active.
- Server logs are kept for a limited operational and security window.
- Help conversations are kept while the enquiry is open, plus a reasonable period afterwards in case you follow up.
- Billing and payout records are kept as long as accounting law requires.
- After an account closes we remove personal data, except for what the law tells us to keep and anonymous statistics that can no longer be linked to you.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to a particular use, or withdraw consent you gave. Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) protects you, and visitors from other regions enjoy comparable protections under this policy. Send requests to info@beyoudwaves.com and we aim to respond within 30 days.
Security
Passwords are hashed, connections are encrypted, sensitive changes are audited, and administrative access is limited to the roles that need it. If a security incident ever affects your information, we will tell you what happened and what we are doing about it.
Children
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, and at least 18 to use paid features. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
As the service grows we may update this policy. Updates are posted on this page with a new date. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we announce it on the site first.
